Investing in the Next Generation of Aviation Talent
The future of aviation depends on skilled people. At Stansted Aerospace, investing in people means developing existing talent while helping the next generation gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to support the industry.
Apprenticeships combine professional qualifications with hands-on experience. In aviation, technical knowledge is essential, but so are practical ability, precision and attention to detail. These skills develop through experience, learning from others and applying knowledge in a real working environment.
By supporting apprentices and continuing to develop existing colleagues, Stansted Aerospace recognises the importance of nurturing new talent while building on the expertise already within the business.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham recently highlighted the value of technical education, stating:
“From today, Britain will value the hard hat every bit as much as the graduation cap.”
But don't just take our word for it. Let's hear from Nathan, our newest apprentice, about why he chose this route into the aviation industry.
Nathan, Apprentice at Stansted Aerospace, explains:
“I chose to do an apprenticeship instead of going to university because I wanted to learn by actually doing the job, rather than just studying it in a classroom. I enjoy being hands-on and learning new things through experience, so an apprenticeship felt like the right option for me.
Being able to learn from experienced engineers, work as part of a team and get involved in real projects while still studying has been a great way for me to develop my skills.
For me, an apprenticeship gives me the best of both worlds. I’m gaining a qualification and learning the theory, but I’m also getting real-world experience and building a career at the same time.”
Nathan's experience reflects the value of combining recognised qualifications with practical learning. By investing in people at every stage of their careers, Stansted Aerospace is helping develop the talent and expertise the aviation industry needs for the future.
